In Loving Memory of Sheila Wetzler Bowman

December 16, 1948 – September 5, 2026

Sheila Diane Wetzler Bowman, born December 16, 1948, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will forever love and miss her.

Sheila was born and raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Bill and Mildred Wetzler, and later made her home in Angie, Louisiana. She was the beloved wife of Franklin P. (Frank) Bowman and a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Franklin P. (Frank)Bowman; her children, Harlan “Tap” Edge (Hazel), Delores “Dody” Giardano (Joe), Dawn Ard (Scott), Jesse Dunaway, David Allen Rush (Ruth), Shelia Faloust (Mark), Joey Hitchcock (Jason), Samantha Shaw (Tracy), Jerod Bowman (Jamie), and Jessica Bowman; her brother, Michael Wetzler along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Wetzler; her daughter, Denise Dunaway; and her parents, Bill and Mildred Wetzler.

For many years, Sheila shared life on the road with her husband, Frank, working as an over-the-road truck driver. Together they traveled across the country, sharing countless adventures and making memories along the way.

Her faith in Jesus was an important part of her life. Sheila attended Monroe Street Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and carried her faith in Jesus with her throughout her life.

Sheila was a loving woman who treasured her family above all else. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, and animals, especially her beloved cats—Luna(her baby), Lena(Fat Cat) Roger, George, Fluffy, and Gomer(Flat Cat), But her favorite thing of all was simply spending time with the people she loved. Family was at the center of her heart.

Those who knew Sheila will remember her for her thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity, and caring heart. She was always willing to help someone in need and never hesitated to give of herself to others. Her love was shown not only through her words, but through the many little things she did for the people around her.

Though she is no longer here with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial will be held at a later date. Her family asks that, you please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest peacefully, Sheila. Your journey here is complete, but the love you gave will remain forever.
