Ronald " Ronnie " William Farmer passed away January 6, 2021 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Covington, Louisiana.
He was born November 27, 1939 in Bogalusa, Louisiana and a resident of Angie, Louisiana.
Ronnie was a 1958 graduate of Bogalusa High School where he was named 'Best Dressed' of his graduating class and also attended Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi.
Ronnie also served in the National Guard for 7 years. This is where he first gained his love for boxing and gained his Golden Glove.
Ronnie was employed at the Bogalusa Fire Department where he proudly served his city as Captain, retiring after 33 years.
He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Ronnie had a love for the country where you could always find him gardening or working diligently in his yard to always keep it pristine clean!
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he had a passion for arrow head hunting and bird watching.
' Papa ' or ' Uncle Ronnie ', as most people knew him, loved being on his back porch with his chew of Levi Garrett watching flying squirrels, hummingbirds hawks or owls, always explaining children and grandchildren how great Gods creatures were.
Many evenings he spent in his back porch rocking chair enjoying visits and sharing old stories from his past with his family.
His favorite topic of conversation was making sure his kids, grandkids and family had Jesus in their heart!
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Thomas Farmer, his parents, Bennie and Evelyn Farmer, a brother Bennie Glynn Farmer, and a nephew and niece Ben-g and Suzette Farmer.
He is survived by his children - Chanel Farmer Sandifer, Lane( Teya) Farmer, Rhonda ( Gene) Musser, Glen ' Chip' ( Renae) Gulliot.
His grandchildren- Macon Sandifer, Saxon and Oaklyn Farmer, Summer ( Chuck) Babin, Danyelle ( Adam) Wallace and Matt Musser. And his sister, Gayla Strickland.
10 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.
Ronnie also leaves behind his wife, Judy Farmer's family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Highland Baptist Church, Bogalusa, Louisiana on January 23, 2021 from 11-2 pm with the service starting at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers all proceeds can be made to Highland Baptist Church.
