Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Craig Crain

March 6, 1952 - January 10, 2026

Ronald Craig Crain passed away on January 10, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy deeply rooted in family, the outdoors, and the animals he loved so dearly.

He was happiest in the woods during turkey and deer season, where patience, quiet, and respect for the land mattered most.  Hunting wasn't just a hobby – it was part of who he was, a place where he found peace and often a good story to tell afterward.

He also had a deep love for music and sports.  He was a natural competitor and had so many hobbies throughout his life that he took great pride in mastering.  Dirt bikes, flying, dog breeding, fishing, hunting, and basketball are just a few of the hobbies he loved.

Above all, he cherished his family and especially his grandchildren.  Their laughter, curiosity, and presence brought him endless joy, and he delighted in being part of their lives, teaching them, sharing stories, and creating memories they will always cherish.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia, daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Billy Blanke, son and fiancée, Matthew and Taylor Wainwright, grandchildren, Braxton, Mason, and Lynleigh, special fur baby, Sadie Marie, brother-in-law, Arthur (Yvonne) Nobles, sisters-in-law, Dinah (Dale) Pisciotta, Anita (Mike) Davis, Tina Slaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J and Katherine Crain, brother and sister-in-law, Gary Don and Nellie Crain, father-in-law, A.G. Nobles, mother-in-law, Edna Nobles, and brothers-in-law, Quincy Seal and Greg Nobles.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered – in the early mornings of hunting season and most of all in the laughter and lives of the grandchildren he adored.

A celebration of life will be held at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5-9 pm and Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10 am until time for services at 1 pm in the chapel.  The Rev. Caleb Martin and Bro. Jim Byrd will officiate, and interment will follow at Miley Cemetery.
