Richard Sherfield Ard, age 78, a resident of Bogalusa, LA was born on June 15, 1947, in Varnado, LA, passed away on August 29, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Richard loved his country and served in the Army during Vietnam.  He was an active Mason for many years, and he enjoyed his trips to the mountains with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Shelly Sherfield Ard; his mother and stepfather Ida Mae Jenkins Williams and J.C. "Red" Williams.

Richard is survived by his wife Susan Easterling Ard; his children Scott Ard (Dawn), of Sheridan, Daryl Grant of Bogalusa, LA, Stephanie Ard of Sheridan, LA and Joseph Ard (Rashea) of Conroe, TX; a brother Oneal Ard (Doris) of Bogalusa, LA; a sister Mildred Ard of Bush, LA; grandchildren Jessica Burch (Taylor), Khristian Whaley (Joseph), Katelyn Owens (Will), Kadyn Barber, Blake Grant, Anna Grant, Demire Gelliam, Cason Gelliam, Cameron Gelliam, Jacob Ard, and Kay Anthony; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. and continue Monday, September 1, 2025, from 9:00a.m. until the service time of 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow at Rester cemetery in Varnado, LA, with the Magic City Post #24 presenting military honors.
