Mrs. Nora Thomas Byrd, a resident of Isabel, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the age of 95.

Mrs. Nora is survived by her son, Willie Cook (Glenda) Byrd; daughters, Kathy Mikeska and Shirley (Dane) Lewis; her grandchildren, Joel (Paula) Byrd, Lesley (Will) Galloway, and Kory (Matt) Magee; and her great grandchildren, Sarah Beth Byrd, Graham Rhoden, and Nora Kate Rhoden.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Genevieve Thomas; brother-in-law, Charlie Breath; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Nora was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Willie Lamar Byrd; her parents, Dave and Saleta "Lettie" Haley Thomas; brothers, H.P., David, Royce, and Vernon Thomas; sisters, Edith Dupuy, Oudia Thomas, Veda Vaughn, and Betty Jo Breath; mother-in-law, Evie Byrd Blackwell; father-in-law, Willie Cook Byrd; and a son- in- law, Lawrence Mikeska.

The family of Mrs. Nora would like to give a special thank you to all her caregivers, Sissy Edwards, Karen Fisher, Jackie Fussell, Leslie Hirstius, and Jewel Miller, and especially Dr. Ellie Lomzenski, the staff at Southeast Home Health, and Community Care Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating the service.  Interment to follow at Mizell Cemetery.
