Ned John Cerniglia
January 10, 1935 – August 15, 2026
Ned John Cerniglia, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2026, at the age of 91. He was a longtime member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was a man whose kindness, warmth, and love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He also was an influential member of the Italian-American club in their activities and making the famous cookies that were served during St Joseph’s gathering
Ned proudly served two years in the Naval Reserve as a signalman aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Forrestal. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill, where he worked for 40 years before retiring.
Ned took great pride in his work, and his profession became an important part of his family's story. His knowledge, skills, passion and work ethic sparked a similar interest in his sons. His example and encouragement inspired one son to pursue a career in drafting and design, while another followed a career path in instrumentation and electronics. In this way, Ned's influence extended far beyond his own career—his love of his work and his willingness to share what he knew helped shape the lives and careers of his children.
Those who knew Ned will remember him most for the goodness of his heart. He had a gentle spirit and treated people with kindness, respect, and compassion. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and his genuine love for people was evident in the way he lived his life. His family and friends will forever cherish his quiet strength, generous nature, and unwavering love.
Ned is survived by his two sons, Tony (Tina) Cerniglia and Vic Cerniglia (Sissy); his grandchildren, Brady (Shelby) Cerniglia, Cameron (Hayley) Cerniglia, Victoria Cerniglia, and Sam Cerniglia; his great-grandchildren, Penny, Amelia, and Bennet; his sister, Mary Melancon; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Louise Cerniglia; his beloved wife, Jacqueline Cerniglia; and his brother-in-law, Roy Melancon Sr.
Ned leaves behind a legacy of love, family, hard work, and kindness. The lessons he taught through both his words and his example will live on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing that the love he gave so freely will continue through the generations.
