Michael Jeffrey Jones, born January 12, 1956, passed from this life to his eternal home in
Heaven on May 29, 2026, at the age of 70.
Michael, born and raised in Bogalusa, LA, was a 1975 graduate of Bogalusa High School. He
worked at Wal-Mart in Covington, LA for 20 years.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a passionate servant of the
Lord. He was a member of Ben's Ford Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Sunday
School teacher with his wife for over 20 years. He participated in choir, the discipleship
program, the welcome team, and anywhere else there was a need. He served whole-heartedly
and always with a great big smile. He was also a devoted supporter of Ben's Ford Christian
School.
Michael leaves behind many who will cherish his memory, including his loving and devoted wife
of 39 years, Vanessa Rose Rester Jones; his children, Adam (Ness) and Sam (Marshayla);
eight grandchildren, Tayla, Trinity, Elena, Denver, Sam Jr., Finley, Spencer, and Gwendeline
Rose; brother, Dywatt (Debbie); sisters, Paula (Johnny) Byrd and Angela (Steve) McNeese;
father-in-law, Van B. Rester; special friends, Dennis, Jana, Abram, and Rebekah Pounds; and
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Jane Jones; sister, Georgia Phillips;
and mother-in-law, Nancy Rester.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Ben's Ford Baptist Church, from
1:00 p.m. until time for the service at 4:00 p.m. Bro. Caleb Martin, Bro. Lynn
Martin, and Bro. Jimmy Byrd will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Ben's Ford
Cemetery. Pallbearers: Dennis Pounds, Daniel Mathews, Justin McQueen, Steven Johnston,
Joey Dykes, and Casey Dantin. Honorary pallbearers: Deacon Martin and Jacen Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to the Ben's Ford Christian School Campus
Improvement Fund.
