December 23, 1954 – August 1, 2026
Melvin Earl Brady Jr., lovingly known as “Earl” to many, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at the age of 71.
Earl was truly a jack of all trades. He was known for his willingness to help others, his hardworking nature, and his ability to fix just about anything. While he wore many hats throughout his life, his greatest joy was being a grandfather. His grandchildren meant more to him than anything in this world, and the love he had for them was evident in every moment they shared.He is survived by his sister, Beverly Brady Readlinger; his children, Jennifer Byrd, Tommie Penton, Dewayne and Dannette Penton, and Wesley Penton.He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Christopher Boyles; Bridget Boyles and Jep Bonnette; Waylon Penton; Kendal Williams; Willis “DJ” Penton; Caitlyn and TJ Wheeler; Alexis Dixon; Jace Burnette; Dalton and Rachel Castile; Garron Castile; Triston Castile; Ashley Foster ; and Brandon Foster.
Earl was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Brady Sr. and Earline Brady; his sisters, Darlene Leemans, Bridget Stuart, and Lanita Granger; and his lifelong companion, Alma White.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center and Egan Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Earl throughout his journey.
Earl’s legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
There will be a Celebration of Mr. Melvin Earl Brady, Jr. ‘s life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Pounds Cemetery,
Bogalusa, LA, with family and friends expressing their memories of his life.
