Joseph F. Hernandez Jr. age 94, was born in New Orleans, LA, on November 18, 1930, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law in Bogalusa, LA.
Joseph was in the Marine Corp and fought in the Korean War in 1952, he retired from Crown Zellerbach in data processing and then joined his father-in-law with Gulf Oil Industry. One of Josephs claims to fame was he went to school with Morgus the Magnificent.
Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Thurman Hernandez; his parents Joseph F. Hernandez Sr. and Eugenia Kursch Hernandez and a brother-in-law George Sessions.
Joseph is survived by his son James Kenneth "Jimmy" (Laura Jane) Hernandez of Bogalusa, LA; a daughter Martha Joanne Romano of Bogalusa, LA; a sister Martha Sessions of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Jessica Hernandez Miller (D.J. Martin) of Bogalusa, LA, and James Kenneth Hernandez II of Zacharry, LA; great grandchildren Colby Miller, River Martin, Wyatt Martin, Jay Hernandez, Madison Hernandez, Jacey Hernandez; 1 great-great grandchild Kaydence Thompson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m., on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery. The Rev. Marcus Rosa will officiate the service. Military graveside rites will be performed by the Magic City Post #24 of the American Legion.
