John Ellis "Joel" Nielsen

June 28, 1968 – February 25, 2024

John Ellis "Joel" Nielsen, a native of Bogalusa, LA and a resident of Slidell, LA passed away Sunday afternoon at his residence at the age 55. "A Guy with A Big Heart!" He was also a former member of Union Avenue Baptist Church of Bogalusa, LA.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Adams Nielsen of Bogalusa, LA; sister, Julia (Walter, III) Gibbs of Bush, LA; brother, Borde Nielsen of Slidell, LA; special nieces and nephew, Myra Gibbs of Bush, LA, Noah James Gibbs of Bush, LA, and Brittany (Justin) Nielsen Ladner of Flemingsburg, KY; a special great niece, Darci Ladner of Flemingsburg, KY. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Riel Nielsen, maternal grandparents, Ellis and Irene Adams; paternal grandparents, John Peter and Louise Nielsen.

A graveside will be held at the Ponemah Cemetery on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Eric Catha officiating.
