Jewel Clarissa Nozares passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at her home in Angie, LA at the age of 56 years old.

Jewel was born on December 7, 1966, at The Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She was the beloved daughter of Jewell Lott, Sr. and Joyce Joachimi. She grew up in Bogalusa, and attended Bogalusa High School, and was a member of Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. She resided in Killeen, TX and made a life there for many years before recently returning to her hometown.

Jewel was married to Mark Nozares and had 6 daughters, Emily Freeman, Merika Kalman, Jessica Engolia, Erika Engolia, Leilani Nozares, and Chyrea Nozares. She was a mother and a homemaker. She loved the smell of pine soil and bleach and a clean house. Jewel loved blue roses and unicorns, pretty things that made her dark world brighter. Jewel loved her girls, and always reminded them of their ability to change the world, even if she did not see that ability in herself.

Jewel is survived by her husband, children, mother, and her two siblings, Joye Haering and Wilson Lott.

Jewel was preceded in death by her father, who she loved dearly, Jewell Lott, Sr.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until time for the service at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Wesley Quave and Rev. Jeremy Newman officiating.  Interment to follow at Pounds Cemetery.
