Jessie Merle Fornea Jones, age 79, a resident of Varnado, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her residence in Varnado, LA.

Jessie was employed in food services, working at Bogalusa Charity Hospital and Washington Parish School System for many years. She had a humble heart and showed her love for others by always cooking and serving food every chance she could get. Everyone loved her and she will be sadly missed by all. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, George Jones, Jr. (Peggy) of Varnado, LA, and Danny Jones (Missy) of Pine, LA; two daughters, Jessie Mae Davis (Ricky) of Varnado, LA, and Sheila Carter (Boosie) of Varnado, LA; grandchildren, Jessica Thompson (Doug), Christopher Jones (Sharae), Kristal Holcomb (Forrest), Dee O'Quinn (Garvin),Amber Adams (Konnor), Brandon Jones (Carley), Hannah Lods (Austin), Addison Carter (Landon), Savanah Jones, and Lance Harris; great-grandchildren, Preston and Nancy Holcomb, Jessalynn Thompson, Elle Jones, Ayla Lods, Kadyn and Emery Adams, Trenten O'Quinn, Devin Harris, Brayden Stafford, Cheyenne Harris, Gauge Harris, Rayleigh Watters, Kaos Watters and Ayden Watters. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Marie Jones, her sister, Bert (Ben) Hartzog, her sisters-in-law, Patsy Fornea of Varnado, LA, and Vivian Jones of Bush, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Jones, Sr. Also her parents, Carl John Fornea, Sr. and Gladys Lott Fornea; brothers, Gene and Carl Fornea, Jr.; sisters, Marguerite Freeman and Janice Freeman; and her mother in-law and father-in-law, Russell and Winnie Jones.

Visitation will be at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 P.M. The funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. with Bro. Kelly Penton officiating. Interment to follow at the Old Fornea Cemetery in Varnado, LA.

Active Pallbearers will be: Forrest Holcomb, Garvin O'Quinn, Doug Thompson, Chris Jones, Brandon Jones, and Lance Harris.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Konnor Adams, Austin Lods, Landon Keller, and Benji Hartzog.

Food will be served at 63377 Fornea Road after the funeral services.
