James Elton Magee Sr., age 86 was born on September 28, 1938, in Bogalusa, LA, passed away on September 4, 2025, at Lakeview Hospital in Covington, LA.
James was a member of First Baptist Church of Mandeville. Graduated from Enon High School in 1956 as a Salutatorian. James graduated from LSU with a Masters Plus 30 and was a devoted LSU fan. Enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a retired agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Slidell High School for 20 years. James was a director of marketing with Federal Land Bank and was a business owner of N'awlins Trade Show and Convention Services.
Mr. Magee was preceded in death by his first wife of 24 years GeorgeAnne Robertson Magee; parents Shanler and Vera Mizell Magee; grandparents James "Jim" Warren and Minnie McClendon Mizell and Henry Elton and Bertha Talley Magee; a brother Billy Wayne Magee Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Anees and Janet Mogabgab, Jr; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stephen and Annette Mogabgab.
James is survived by his wife of 43 years Janet Mogabgab Magee of Mandeville, LA; a son James Magee Jr. (Laura) of Slidell, LA; daughters Jamie Magee Butts (Tim) of Isabel, LA, and Janene Hollen (Ronnie) of Isabel, LA,; brother-in-law Paul Mogabgab (Toby) of Metairie, LA; sister-in-law Judy Tyrl of Mandeville, LA.; a close cousin Sue Magee Bollin (Bob); 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Isabel Baptist Church, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the service time of 2:00p.m. with Bro. Ronnie Hollen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Isabel Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Stewart and Charles Sumrall.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the staff of Lakeview Hospital and PAM Rehabilitation Hospital who took such wonderful care of Jim.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Jim.
