Obituary

Hughey McGehee Leos Guht, born June 11, 1940, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Her journey was one marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for family, faith, and community.

Hughey was the beloved daughter of the late Hugh McGehee and Audis Strickland McGehee. Throughout her life, she remained steadfast in her devotion to those she loved, cherishing her family and friends through both joyous times and times of loss.

Hughey found great fulfillment in her professional life, serving as a secretary at First Baptist Church for over thirty years. Her tireless commitment and welcoming spirit touched countless lives within the church and broader community, and her calm presence provided comfort and guidance to all who walked through those doors.

Beyond her professional achievements, Hughey delighted in life’s simple and profound pleasures. She enjoyed playing tennis, bringing her energetic spirit to every match. Her melodious voice shone in the choir, where she found deep joy in singing praises and sharing music with fellow worshippers. She also loved to travel, embracing new experiences and collecting memories across many places.

Hughey’s life was ever enriched by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted son, Tommy Leos Jr. and daughter-in-law Lisa; her beloved daughter, Angel Howe and son-in-law Ken; and her caring brother, Donnie McGehee and sister-in-law Debbie.  Hughey’s legacy also lives on in her grandchildren: Zacharry Leos, Ethan Leos, Amanda Ambrose, and Kenzie Bequette, who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death not only by her parents, but by her husbands, Tommy Leos Sr. and William “Bill” Guht, her brother Gary McGehee, and a treasured grandson, Banning Pounds. Their memories remained close to her heart and shaped the warmth and empathy she so freely shared with others.

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Hughey’s life at a graveside service on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillview Memorial Gardens, 59302 Spring Valley Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427.

Hughey McGehee Leos Guht will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and graciousness endures in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.
