Gilbert Hartzog, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was a dedicated member of Angie Baptist Church serving as a deacon. He was an Army veteran having served in Vietnam.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Hartzog; sons, Gilbert (Charlyn) Hartzog, Jr., Gabe (Jammie) Hartzog, Randy (Heidi) Hartzog; daughter, Annie (Scott) McLain; along with 13 grandchildren, Emily (Brad) Cooper, Haley Hartzog, Hannah (Corey) Ly, Brett Hartzog, Lexie Hartzog, Grant (Alex) Hartzog, Cory Lafont (Kirstie Thibodaux), Casey Lafont, Colby (Patricia) Passmore, Caleb Passmore (Alicia Roblero), Cloey Passmore, and Noah and Caleb McLain; and 9 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brady Cooper, Kash and Karter Magee, Isabella Hartzog, Kase Hartzog, Kennady and Oakley Ly, and Axel Lafont. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Sylvia (Bobby) Bell and Patricia (James) Maples, and 1 brother, Jerry (Stacey) Hartzog.
Gilbert was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Lynn Hartzog Passmore; his parents, Ethylene and James Hartzog; and his brothers, (all who were military veterans) Johnny Hartzog, Elvis Hartzog, Berford Hartzog, and Roy Hartzog.
Visitation will be held at Angie Baptist Church (64458 Royal Street) on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. until time for the service at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Bryant Barnes and Rev. Brad Cooper officiating the service. Interment to follow at Bonnie Cemetery in Angie, LA.
