Ernest Burris Smith, Jr., 79, resident of Angie, LA passed away at Slidell Memorial Hospital on June 17,2022. Ernest was born in Bogalusa, LA on February 15, 1943, and was a member of Highland Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years.

He is survived by his wife Dianne Smith; his children Allison (Hubert) Smith Walters, Kristy (Frank) Smith Scroggs, Ernest "Scott" (Charmaine) Smith; his grandchildren Joanna Marie Touchstone, Franklin Christopher Scroggs, Andrew Burris Johnson Walters, Clint Wayne Johnson Walters, Lorin Rebekkah Bernice Scroggs Raines, Alexander Hudson Smith; his great grandchildren Addi, Aiden, Adam, Elliot June, Payton, Paysley, Presleigh, and Cheyann; a sister Sylvia Smith Ellis; and his brothers Harold E. Smith and Larry Smith; very special life-long friends Daniel and Glenda Keaton, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews and his Highland Baptist Church family.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Burris Smith, Sr. and Bernice Bennet Smith and his sister Jimmie Nell Smith Page.

Services to celebrate Mr. Ernest's life will be held Monday, June 20, 2022, with the visitation starting at 9:00 am and the funeral service starting at 10:00 am at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis Allen will officiate and interment will follow at Seal Cemetery in Varnado, LA.
