Dorothy "Dot" Tynes

October 27, 1931 – May 31, 2026

Dorothy "Dot" Tynes, 94, passed away on May 31st in Maryville, Tennessee.  'Miss Dot' as she was affectionately called by all who knew her was born in Franklinton, lived most of her life in Bogalusa, moving to Maryville in 2012 to be near daughter and family. Dot worked many jobs in her lifetime and made friends everywhere she went. She never met a stranger. Dot was married to Melvin Tynes from 1948 until his death in 2005.

She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Bellman of Houston, and Yvette Rison of Maryville, Tennessee; Grandchildren, Kristi Hymel of Ballou, New Hampshire, and Eric Mitchell of Maryville Tennessee; great grandchildren, Evan, Lauren and Jacob Ballou, and Jessie, Dillon, and Sara Mitchell. Also loving nieces, Faye Jarrell and Bronis Brumfield, both of Franklinton; Janice Wilson of State Line, Mary Ellen Gowens of Baton Rouge, Cheryl Tynes Carrier of Casselberry, FL, and Amy Tynes Burns of Gulf Breeze, FL., and great nieces and nephews as well.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Poole Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, Bogalusa, LA at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with Rev. Marcus Rosa officiating. Interment to follow in the Crain Cemetery at State Line.

A visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M.
