Donna Wilson Bookman

Donna Wilson Bookman,81, passed away on November 21st, 2025. She was born on June 10th, 1944, in Bogalusa, LA. Daughter of parents Wendell Woodrow Wilson (1912 -1987) and Macy Breland Wilson (1914-2000). Beloved sister of Charles Wendell Wilson and James "Jimmy" Wilson. She is survived by her son Jay Dolan Bookman, daughter in law Allison Offner Bookman and daughter, Wendy Wilson Bookman, grandchildren Ben Wilson Bookman, Caro Frances Bookman and Cecilia Leigh Bookman. She was preceded in death by her husband John Dolan Bookman.

She shared a beautiful life with her husband, John, whom she loved dearly. Their bond was one of deep affection, partnership and joy- a true example of love lived fully.

For over 30 years, Donna dedicated her career to teaching first grade, where she found her true calling. Her passion for educating and guiding children shone brightly in every lesson, every small triumph she celebrated with her students, and every life she touched.

Those who knew her will forever remember her amazing personality - fun-loving, confident, wonderfully funny and her gift for making people feel seen. Everyone she met became a friend. She will be remembered as a treasure to all who knew her.

There will be a visitation at 10 am on Saturday November 29th, 2025, followed by a service at 12 pm at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home at 216 Alabama Ave, Bogalusa, LA 70427.

To honor her spirit and the bold, joyful confidence she carried through life, the family requests that those attending the service wear red or pink lipstick. A simple tribute to something she loved and a reflection of the vibrant woman she was.
