David L. Steinwinder, 92, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in The Hospice House of Slidell.

Mr. Steinwinder was born September 26, 1931 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was a retired safety engineer with Brown and Root Industrial. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Army for sixteen years, holding the rank of Colonel. He also enjoyed refereeing sports at Bogalusa High School.

Family members include two children, David L. Steinwinder, II, Laurie Steinwinder; brother, Jan O. (Dorothy) Steinwinder; nephews, Chad (Ruta) Steinwinder, Scot (Irene) Steinwinder; nieces, Mary Kay Walters, Karen Dobe, and Victoria Chaublin; one great niece, Sofia Steinwinder; three great nephews, Devn Steinwinder, Evan Steinwinder, and Colin Steinwinder; and a multiple great and great great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Walter O. Steinwinder and Balzora Alford Steinwinder; one brother, W.O. Steinwinder, and one sister, Lyla Faye Horstman; niece, Barbarba Sheets.

Memorial Services will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday evening November 23, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday evening from 4:00 P.M. until service time at 5:00 P.M. Immediately following the Memorial Service, the Masonic Rites will be conducted by Center Lodge #244 of Bogalusa, LA, and then Military rites will be performed by Magic City American Legion Post #24.
