David William
"Bill" Boyd
Jun 14, 1957 — Jun 9, 2025
With a broken heart, we announce the passing of our beloved brother and father, David William "Bill" Boyd on June 9, 2025. Most recently a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Bill was born on June 14, 1957, in Covington, Louisiana. He grew up in the Bayou Liberty area and city of Slidell, where he played on many athletic teams in a variety of sports. As a young man, one of Bill's favorite pastimes was playing softball, and he was also a lifelong fan of the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.
Known for his sense of humor and quick wit, conversation with Bill was funny and entertaining. He was active in the Slidell carnival Krewe of Mutharoux for several years; and he enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to several different genres of music, and watching old movies. He was also intrigued with Civil War era military history, and especially with his home state regiment called the "Louisiana Tigers".
Bill is survived by his loving son Kevin Anthony Boyd; sisters Leah Webster (William "Whip") and Marla Leslie (Bobby); brothers Tom Boyd (Peggy) and Jim Boyd (Tammy); brother-in-law George Ciko; aunt Linda and uncle Johnny Hebert; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Laverne Boyd and Iona Mae Faciane Boyd Gross; sister Christine Boyd Ciko; paternal grandparents Theodore Lincoln Boyd and Thelma Bristow Boyd of Norman, OK; maternal grandparents Clenney Antoine Faciane and Mary Ann Galatas Faciane of Slidell, LA; nephew Jeremy Bedford; and former spouse Charolette Harris Boyd, mother of son Kevin.
Bill will be greatly missed by all those he left behind. A private gathering of family and close friends will be held to celebrate Bill's life, and a memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell, Louisiana on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Visitation and prayer will begin at 9:30 am and Mass will start at 10 am.
