In Loving Memory of Betty Jane Ard Landry

April 15, 1936 – November 1, 2026

Betty Jane Ard Landry, a beloved wife, mother, friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, in Tylertown, Mississippi. Born on April 15, 1936, she was the daughter of Talmadge Ard and Agnes Crain Ard.

Betty graduated from Dexter High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career as a typist with BellSouth, where she worked for more than 30 years.

On March 22, 1956, Betty married the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Landry. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary 70 years, filled with love, devotion, laughter, and countless memories. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to their son, James Barry Landry. Betty and Jimmy especially enjoyed traveling together and taking cruises, making memories that they would treasure throughout their lives.

Betty was generous, kind, loving, and welcoming to everyone she met. She was a natural people person who seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to love her. Her friendly spirit and genuine interest in others made people feel like old friends, even if they had just met. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. To some, she was affectionately known as “Betty Blueberry,” a name that reflected another special chapter of her life. Betty developed a flourishing blueberry business that became much more than a business; it became a labor of love and a way to share her knowledge and kindness with others. She patiently and thoroughly taught people how to pick blueberries and properly store them. Her willingness to share what she knew, always taking the time to make sure others understood, created a legacy that will continue through those she taught. Those who knew her might say she was every bit as sweet as the blueberry cake she enjoyed so much.

Betty's life was defined not by what she accumulated, but by the love she gave, the friendships she nurtured, and the lives she touched. Betty leaves behind, her husband Jimmy, her son Barry, family and friends that love and adore her and a legacy of devotion, generosity, patience, and kindness. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Betty will forever be loved, forever remembered, and forever missed. Her life was a blessing to so many, and her memory will remain as sweet and enduring as the blueberries she so lovingly shared.
