Barbara Jean Applewhite

Barbara Jean Applewhite, was born in Bogalusa, LA on January 18, 1938, passed away at her residence on September 9, 2026, at the age of 88.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Cynthia “Cindy” (Kevin) Doell of Rochester, NY; a sister Sybil (Rory) Beall of Pine, LA; sister-in-law Kathy Singletary of Varnado, LA; daughters-in-law Glenda Applewhite of Henleyfield, MS, and Karen (Joe) Applewhite of Bogalusa; grandchildren Candace (Matt Easterling) Applewhite of Sandy Hook, MS, Lee (Evelyn) Applewhite of Thomas, LA, Brittany (Blake) Lam of Covington, LA, Glen (Bethany) Seal of Pine, LA, Chad (Sarah) Smith of Pittsboro, NC, Ira Applewhite of Henleyfield, MS, and Emily Doell of Erie, PA; great grandchildren Kase Seal, Kylie Seal, Kale Seal, Elizabeth “Lizzy” McMillan, Colby Applewhite, Banks Lam, Blakelyn Lam, Josiah Applewhite, Mattie Easterling, Lexi Applewhite, Levi Applewhite, Lainey Applewhite, Cody Smith, Morgan Smith, Konnor Smith, Marlee Smith, Finley Smith.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Frank J. Singletary and J. Elouise Singletary; a brother Edward “Butch” Singletary; children an infant daughter, Robert L. “Robbie” Applewhite, and Joseph Alfred “Joey” Applewhite.

A graveside service will be held in Ponemah cemetery on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:30a.m. with Rev. Clay Norwood officiating.
